Business Development As A CED Strategy #4335

If a community is to be a key organizer of an efficient, locally-controlled network of production and distribution, then business development must be included in its development strategy. But it is not enough to own and manage businesses; they must be tools of empowerment. CED requires a particular type of business development that reflects the type of private sector being created - one based on values different from those currently regulating business. Includes a table relating an array of community issues to their implications for local strategies in general and business plans in particular.
